Recent years have seen a new trend of so-called patriots flying all black American flags (you can buy them on Amazon), symbolizing "no quarter given." They may even imply a willingness to use (lethal) violence against fellow citizens who threaten their narrow vision of what the U.S. is supposed to look like, how they believe our government is supposed to function, or what they think freedom is. No matter your political persuasion, this is unacceptable in a well-regulated democratic society and must be curtailed in favor of the notion that "I disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
